African Conservation Projects

Shumba Experience has conservation projects throughout Southern Africa, where you have the chance to work as a conservation volunteer on game reserves, veterinary projects and wildlife research projects. As volunteers you'll be working directly with conservation professionals on location in South Africa, Botswana or Namibia.

The placements are aimed at volunteers' aged 17 upward and are popular with gap year travellers and grown-up gappers on career breaks. Everyone deserves to explore the wonders of Africa and therefore we accept volunteers from all backgrounds. No experience is necessary, as all training will be given on the placement.

Conservation and marine projects vary in length from between 7 days to 12 weeks, and it is possible to combine two or more projects into one longer experience.
